On a summer evening in New Castle, Delaware, the life of 33-year-old Medford Holmes, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On August 12, 2013, gunshots shattered the night on New Castle Avenue, leaving Holmes with a fatal wound to his upper body. When state troopers arrived after 9 p.m., they discovered him lying near the shoulder of the road. Holmes was rushed to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
