In the winter of 2018, the life of 18-year-old Tayvon M. Sykes, a Black male from Greenwood, Delaware, was tragically cut short. On the afternoon of Thursday, January 25, 2018, Sykes was shot at the intersection of Newton Road and Adams Road in Bridgeville. Following the shooting, he was driven in a private vehicle to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. Despite the efforts to save him, Sykes succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
