On the morning of October 20, 2019, 48-year-old James Broadnax was fatally shot while seated in his car on the 300 block of North Franklin Street in Wilmington, Delaware. The incident occurred just before 10:15 a.m. Broadnax was in the driver's seat with his girlfriend beside him when multiple shots were fired into the vehicle, striking him three times.
