Eddie Green, a 29-year-old Black male from Wilmington, Delaware, was shot on the evening of October 25, 2020, in the 1100 block of North Heald Street. Wilmington police were called to the scene at about 7:14 p.m., where they found Green suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, but the injuries were too severe, and he died after arriving for treatment.
His death came during a violent weekend in Wilmington and was reported as the second fatal shooting in the city that Sunday.
At first, the case was treated as an active homicide investigation, with police releasing Green’s name and confirming that he had been found wounded on North Heald Street. The early public reports did not identify a suspect or describe what led up to the shooting. For Green’s family and community, the case began with the familiar uncertainty of a sudden street shooting: officers at the scene, a victim rushed away by ambulance, and few immediate answers about who fired the shots or why.
The investigation later became part of a much larger law enforcement case focused on MGS, described by Delaware authorities as a violent Wilmington-area gang tied to numerous shootings and murders. Prosecutors said the broader investigation involved the Delaware Department of Justice, Wilmington Police, federal partners, ATF, and the FBI, and grew out of efforts to track guns and gang violence in and around Wilmington. Eddie Green’s killing was eventually listed among the homicides connected to that larger prosecution, along with the murders of Naithan Grzybowski, Tommier Dendy, and Shiheem Durham.
Davon Walker was identified as the defendant connected to Green’s murder. Authorities described Walker as a member of Keyzdrive, an affiliate of MGS, and said investigators tied him to multiple violent offenses during a feud involving rival gangs. In Green’s case, detectives developed Walker as a suspect through several types of evidence, including surveillance footage, Walker’s Instagram activity, and ballistics analysis. Prosecutors said ballistics linked two weapons in Walker’s possession to the murders of Tommier Dendy and Eddie Green.
Walker was indicted in connection with multiple killings and ultimately resolved the case through a plea. He pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy, and gang participation. The murders included Green’s October 2020 killing on North Heald Street, Dendy’s October 2020 killing on East 10th Street, and Grzybowski’s September 2020 killing on East 35th Street. In August 2022, Walker was sentenced to 53 years in prison, followed by probation, under an agreed recommendation in the plea negotiations.
After sentencing, Walker asked the court to reduce or modify his sentence, citing remorse, education efforts, and hopes for rehabilitation. The Superior Court of Delaware denied that request in February 2023, noting that he had faced life imprisonment on first-degree murder charges before accepting the plea and that the 53-year sentence remained appropriate. The denial left his sentence in place, making Walker the person publicly held criminally responsible for Eddie Green’s death.
