On September 16, 2023, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Elsmere Police and New Castle County officers responded to reports of a person lying on the sidewalk in the 900 block of South Grant Avenue, within the Silverbrook Gardens community of Elsmere, Delaware. Upon arrival, officers discovered 20-year-old Jose Gonzalez of Wilmington, Delaware, deceased with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
