On August 13, 1997, 12-year-old Viseth Sun was fatally shot in Portland, Maine. The assailant, 17-year-old Sochean Ung, was subsequently charged with manslaughter.

Viseth Sun was born on February 18, 1985, and was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in South Portland, Cumberland County, Maine.

The tragic incident involving Viseth Sun is among the homicides recorded by the Maine State Police for the year 1997.
