On the night of August 28, 2013, in Belfast, Maine, 55-year-old Lynn Arsenault was fatally shot while visiting her son, Mathew Day, at his residence on Waldo Avenue. Day, then 22, sustained serious injuries in the attack but survived. The assailant, identified as 44-year-old Todd Gilday, forcibly entered the home and opened fire on both Arsenault and her son.
