On November 27, 2014, in Gouldsboro, Maine, 75-year-old Virginia "Ginger" Hutchins was found deceased alongside her husband, 65-year-old Raymond Hutchins, in what authorities determined to be a murder-suicide. The couple was discovered on their living room couch by a relative, with a handgun recovered at the scene. Investigators concluded that Raymond, who served as Ginger's primary caregiver due to her declining health, fatally shot his wife before taking his own life.
