On July 19, 2017, the body of 55-year-old Sally Shaw was discovered along Route 193 in Cherryfield, Maine. An autopsy revealed she had died from a gunshot wound to the head, and evidence indicated her body had been dragged to the roadside. Approximately 11 miles away, Shaw's abandoned rental car was found with front-end damage at the intersection of Routes 193 and 9.
