On December 10, 2020, Bangor police responded to a 911 call reporting an unconscious man at 1702 Union Street. Upon arrival, officers found 28-year-old Syies Adams of Brooklyn, New York, unresponsive and injured. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The following day, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.
