On January 10, 2018, 51-year-old Israel Lewis was found deceased in his apartment on Second Street in Bangor, Maine. An autopsy revealed that he had been shot twice, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of F. Daly, a Boston native, who was charged with Lewis's murder.
