A kind-hearted and caring White/Caucasian woman, 53-year-old Tricia Asselin of Auburn, Maine, was tragically killed on the evening of October 25, 2023. She was at the Just-in-Time Recreation bowling alley in Lewiston, not for her part-time job there, but for a night of fun with her sister, Bobbi Nichols. That evening, a gunman opened fire, creating a scene of chaos and terror.
In the midst of the attack, Asselin's instinct was to help others, and she was fatally shot as she moved to get her phone to call 911.
Known to her friends and family as a person who was always on the go and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, Tricia was a beloved figure in her community. She was an avid fan of New England sports, a competitive golfer and fisherman, and a dedicated employee who often worked multiple jobs. Her greatest pride and the center of her life was her son, Brandon. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate circle, as she was actively involved in charitable work, including for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Susan G. Komen foundation.
The man responsible for the mass shooting that claimed Asselin's life and the lives of 17 others was identified as Robert Card. Following a large-scale manhunt, the suspect was found dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. Tricia Asselin is remembered as a hero for her selfless actions in her final moments.
