On March 17, 1990, Fairview, Montana, Police Chief Orville Edwin Sharbono, 60, was fatally shot while serving civil papers. The assailant ambushed Chief Sharbono from a side door, shooting him in the lower back. Despite his injury, Chief Sharbono returned fire, wounding the attacker.
