Sergeant Allen Leslie Kimery, a 38-year-old Missoula County Sheriff's Deputy, was tragically killed during a routine traffic stop on December 6, 1984. He had pulled over a vehicle for a suspected gas theft, unaware that the car was stolen and the driver, Fred Van Dyke (also known as Joshua Garrity), was armed and dangerous.
