On the evening of May 6, 2015, in Missoula, Montana, a tragic sequence of events unfolded, leading to the death of 46-year-old Anthony "TJ" Dupras, a White / Caucasian male. Dupras, a respected human resources and office director for a legal malpractice insurer and a dedicated father of two, was fatally shot when he went to the home of a friend in need.
The friend, 34-year-old Kalee Scolatti, a local television news director, had called Dupras for assistance after her estranged husband,
Nicholas Scolatti, 36, unexpectedly arrived at her residence. Shortly after Dupras arrived to help, Nicholas Scolatti opened fire, shooting both his estranged wife and Dupras. A neighbor, hearing a woman's screams followed by gunshots, alerted the authorities by calling 911 at approximately 6:40 p.m.
When police arrived, they found both Kalee Scolatti and Anthony Dupras deceased. The gunman, Nicholas Scolatti, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries two days later, on May 8, 2015.
The investigation by the Missoula Police Department indicated that the incident was a double murder-suicide. Authorities reported that Kalee Scolatti had recently told her husband that she wished to end their marriage, and he had moved out of their home. As the primary suspect in the murders of both Kalee Scolatti and Anthony Dupras died from his self-inflicted injuries, no arrests were made in connection with their deaths. The case was considered solved with the death of the perpetrator.
