On July 31, 1990, in Billings, Montana, 60-year-old coin shop owner Charles William Sparboe and his 47-year-old assistant, Catharine Newstrom, were found fatally shot in the head at the Treasure State Silver & Gold coin shop. Approximately $54,000 worth of coins and gold was stolen during the incident.
