Laura Johnson, a 49-year-old Caucasian female, had moved to Billings, Montana, in the summer of 2018, seeking a fresh start with her boyfriend of several years, Gregory Scott Green. She had taken a job delivering pizzas and was attending a recovery clinic, having last been seen on September 13, 2018. Concern grew when Laura, a mother of five, failed to show up for work and her family could not get in touch with her.
This uncharacteristic silence prompted her family to report her missing on September 24.
The investigation into her disappearance soon focused on her boyfriend, Gregory Green. Initially, Green claimed that Laura had been depressed and had simply left. However, the narrative began to unravel when one of Laura's sons traveled to Billings and, by chance, a neighbor provided crucial surveillance footage. The video, from September 13, showed Laura entering the home she shared with Green, but she was never seen leaving. The following evening, the camera captured Green hauling a large, heavy object wrapped in a red blanket from the garage and placing it into the cab of his work truck.
This chilling video evidence became the cornerstone of the prosecution's case. Further investigation revealed a history of domestic violence in their relationship. Investigators also found Laura's blood in Green's pickup truck and discovered that he had recently replaced the carpet in a bedroom. Despite the fact that Laura's body has never been found, the evidence was compelling. In April 2019, Gregory Green, 53, was arrested in Henderson, Nevada, and charged with deliberate homicide. In March 2020, a jury found him guilty of the murder of Laura Johnson. He was subsequently sentenced to 100 years in prison. The search for Laura's body and her two missing red suitcases continues, with authorities believing Green disposed of her remains in a rural area south of Billings.
