In the early morning hours of December 6, 2020, the life of 17-year-old Dacey Cheyenne Moore, a Caucasian female, was tragically cut short in Billings, Montana. Dacey, who was known for her huge heart and love for her family and friends, died from a single gunshot wound to the head. The incident unfolded inside a friend's bedroom where a small group of teenagers had gathered.
The night of December 5th bled into the morning of the 6th as three teenage boys, ages 15, 16, and 17, were
drinking and handling a semi-automatic pistol that the 16-year-old had recently purchased. The group later left the house to pick up Dacey and returned to the bedroom. It was then that the 17-year-old boy reportedly picked up the pistol and pointed it at her. Dacey is said to have jokingly challenged him, suggesting he wouldn't shoot. A single shot was fired, ending her life.
When police arrived at the scene around 5 a.m., the 17-year-old suspect immediately asked to be put in handcuffs and repeatedly stated, "I killed her". He was arrested on suspicion of deliberate homicide and taken to the Yellowstone County Youth Services Center. Authorities later discovered the gun used in the shooting had been stolen. The teenage suspect was charged as an adult with deliberate homicide and pleaded not guilty. His bail was set at $500,000.
