In the late hours of April 16, 2022, a brief altercation in the parking lot of the Snowslip Inn in Essex, Montana, ended in the tragic death of 36-year-old Jeremy Mckenzie, a White male. Deputies from the Flathead County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene just before 11 p.m. to find several people attempting to render medical aid to Mckenzie, who had been shot. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
