In the quiet town of Lewiston, Montana, the life of 46-year-old Tyler Green, a White/Caucasian male, was abruptly cut short on the evening of June 29, 2022. A man known for his appreciation of life's simple pleasures, Green was fatally shot in an act of violence that sent ripples through the community. The incident unfolded around 5:26 p.m. in the 1200 block of 6th Avenue North, where law enforcement officers were dispatched following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, authorities discovered Tyler Green on the ground with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to the Central Montana Medical Center, but tragically, his wounds proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. Green, who was born on March 22, 1976, was remembered for his love of fishing and foraging for asparagus, his kind and generous spirit, and his work in the cement trade.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the suspect, a 24-year-old male, fled the scene on foot.
A probation officer later spotted the individual on Main Street near 6th Avenue North and detained him without any resistance. Initially taken into custody for felony assault with a weapon, the charges against the suspect were escalated as the investigation progressed.
Further inquiry into the death of Tyler Green led to an arrest warrant being issued for the suspect on charges including deliberate homicide and attempted deliberate homicide. He was subsequently booked into the Fergus County Jail. The Lewistown Police Department, with assistance from the Great Falls Police Department, Montana Highway Patrol, and the Fergus County Sheriff's Office, continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
