Officer Brent K. Jacobson, a 41-year-old law enforcement officer with the U.S. Forest Service, was tragically killed on January 12, 1989, near Sandpoint, Idaho. He was assisting the Bonner County Sheriff's Office in a manhunt for two suspects wanted for robbery and kidnapping. The suspects had committed a home invasion robbery the previous night and taken a woman hostage before fleeing into the heavily wooded area.
