On August 21, 1992, William Degan, a 42-year-old Deputy U.S. Marshal, was fatally shot while conducting surveillance on a remote cabin in Boundary County, Idaho. The cabin belonged to Randy Weaver, a man wanted on a federal warrant for failure to appear in court on firearms charges.
