Murdered

Lucy Garvin, a 79-year-old resident of Whitingham, Vermont, was found dead in her home on September 1, 2023, along with her 52-year-old son, Michael Garvin. Their deaths were ruled homicides, both having suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

The Vermont State Police investigation quickly led to the arrest of Christopher Ellis, 54, who had been living with the Garvins since April. Ellis was apprehended during a traffic stop in Brattleboro, driving Michael Garvin's missing pickup truck.
