Lloyd Walking Eagle, 48, a Native American man from Rosebud, South Dakota, died on May 29, 2020, after a bright afternoon turned chaotic on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. Not long after 3:00 p.m., tribal law enforcement received frantic reports about a black SUV stopped near the All Stop convenience store with a passenger hanging partly out of a window. When responders arrived, they found Walking Eagle suffering massive head trauma from a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
