On May 29, 2020, 48-year-old Lloyd Michael Walking Eagle Jr. was fatally shot near the All Stop gas station in Rosebud, South Dakota. Authorities responded to reports of a black SUV with a passenger hanging out of the window, stopped on the road near the convenience store. Upon arrival, they discovered Lloyd Walking Eagle on the ground with massive head trauma from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
