On April 9, 2021, the life of 20-year-old Jesus Vance, a Hispanic/Latino male, was cut short in a violent encounter in Rapid City, South Dakota. Police were called to the South Dakota Rose Inn around 4:15 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Inside one of the motel rooms, they discovered Vance, who had died from gunshot wounds.
