On April 9, 2021, 20-year-old Jesus Vance was found deceased from gunshot wounds in a room at the South Dakota Rose Inn in Rapid City, South Dakota. The Rapid City Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 4:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Vance's body inside the motel room and encountered 37-year-old Jake Williams outside, who had sustained superficial injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
