On August 27, 2021, 16-year-old McKenzie Garreaux was fatally shot at an apartment complex on North Maple Avenue in Rapid City, South Dakota. Emergency responders transported her to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Notably, McKenzie had been reported missing by the Pennington County Sheriff's Office on August 20, 2021.
