On August 21, 2022, 30-year-old Acey D. Morrison, a Two-Spirit member of the Lakota tribe, was fatally shot in Rapid City, South Dakota. The incident occurred at the residence of 54-year-old Gregory Edward Landers, whom Morrison had met through a dating app. Landers reported the shooting to authorities, claiming he acted in self-defense.
