On a tragic day in early winter, the life of 36-year-old Cassandra "Cassy" Clark was cut short in Rapid City, South Dakota. On December 4, 2021, the community was shaken by the news of her death, which was the result of a violent encounter that also ended the life of the man responsible.
Authorities identified the man as Chad M. Lieberman, age 41, of Rapid City. The incident was determined to be a murder-suicide. At approximately 5:00 p.m.
on that Saturday, the Rapid City Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 4100 block of Minnesota Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of Clark and Lieberman, both with apparent gunshot wounds.
According to the police investigation, Lieberman had fatally shot Clark before turning the gun on himself. Clark, a mother and a manager at a truck stop, was remembered as a loving and wonderful person. The news of her violent death left her family and friends heartbroken. There were no arrests to be made as the perpetrator had taken his own life at the scene.
