On November 7, 2021, 37-year-old Garang Hakim Aluong was fatally shot in a parking lot near Giliberto's Mexican Taco Shop on South Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The incident occurred early Sunday morning and also resulted in injuries to another individual.
