On November 29, 2021, 20-year-old Nova Allen Alexander of Rapid City, South Dakota, was fatally shot. The incident occurred on Marquette Drive, where Alexander was among three individuals shot. The primary suspect, 22-year-old Jesse Schmockel from Kyle, South Dakota, was arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter and assault in connection with the shooting.
