A Friday afternoon gathering at a crowded Baertown Park in McComb, Mississippi, turned tragic, ending the life of 17-year-old Gary Thompson. The teenager, a junior at McComb High School, was at the park on what was reportedly 'Senior Skip Day' for the high school. At approximately 5:25 p.m., gunfire erupted, striking Thompson in the head.
