On May 9, 2024, 41-year-old Nichole "Nikki" Klich was fatally shot in Huron, South Dakota. Authorities identified a 15-year-old male suspect, who was subsequently charged with first-degree murder. Due to his age, the case commenced in juvenile court, with prosecutors indicating plans to seek a transfer to adult court.
