On October 31, 1903, Deputy Sheriff Louis Falkenburg of the Weston County Sheriff's Office in Wyoming was fatally shot while attempting to arrest members of an Oglala Sioux group accused of illegally hunting antelope and slaughtering livestock in southern Weston and northern Converse counties.
