On July 7, 2011, in Wheatland, Wyoming, 11-year-old Joseph Raymond Conant was tragically killed in a mass shooting perpetrated by his father, Everett E. Conant III. The incident occurred in the family's mobile home, where Everett Conant opened fire, resulting in the deaths of his three sons—Joseph, 13-year-old Charles, and 18-year-old Everett IV—as well as his brother, 33-year-old Nacuma Roland Conant. Joseph's mother, Suzette Ann Conant, was also shot but survived her injuries.
