On September 9, 2013, Grand Teton National Park rangers discovered the body of 55-year-old Alberto Ortega from Winter Park, Florida, at the Windy Point turnout along the Teton Park Road. Evidence at the scene, including a semi-automatic pistol found beside his body and a note left by Ortega, indicated that he likely took his own life in the early morning hours with a single gunshot to his head.
