Anquine Lamont White, a 39-year-old Black / African American man, was fatally shot on May 12, 2020, in Fargo, North Dakota. The incident unfolded in the parking lot of a Northport Hornbachers grocery store.
The shooting was reportedly connected to a planned drug transaction. White and another man, Lee Fry, were in the backseat of a car driven by Reng Ayong. An altercation occurred inside the vehicle, leading to both White and Fry being shot.
After the shooting, the car crashed on a boulevard at 25th Avenue and 7th Street. White was pronounced dead at the scene, while Fry survived and was hospitalized.
Following the incident, police arrested two individuals. Reng Ayong, 21 years old at the time, was charged with murder. Another man, Darrell Simmons, was charged with robbery-conspiracy and drug-delivery conspiracy in connection with the events that led to White's death. Authorities indicated that White and Simmons had arranged to purchase meth from Ayong. Two firearms were recovered by the police during their investigation.
