On a summer afternoon in Fargo, North Dakota, a 23-year-old White male police officer named Jake Wallin was shot and killed in the line of duty on July 14, 2023. Wallin, who had been with the Fargo Police Department for just three months, was undergoing field training and responded to a routine traffic accident. As he and other officers were investigating the crash, a man, later identified as 37-year-old Mohamad Barakat, opened fire on them without warning.
