On the evening of Christmas Eve, 2023, the life of Nicholas Van Pelt, a 41-year-old White/Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in his Minot, North Dakota, apartment. A Master Sergeant with the North Dakota Air National Guard's 219th Security Forces Squadron and a former Ward County Sheriff's deputy, Van Pelt was a respected figure in both the military and local law enforcement communities.
