Police Officer Marion Screws of the Anniston Police Department in Alabama was fatally shot in a gunfight on February 2, 1915. The incident occurred on West 10th Street, where Officer Screws and his colleague, Police Officer Clarence Kettles, were engaged in a confrontation with a suspect.
Both Officer Screws and Officer Kettles lost their lives in this gunfight. The suspect involved in the shooting was later convicted of manslaughter and received a sentence of one year in prison.
