Police Officer Ollie Mason of the Mobile Police Department was fatally shot on June 15, 1943, while responding to a domestic complaint. The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on South Hamilton Street. Officer Mason and his partner were answering the call when the situation turned violent, resulting in Mason being shot.
