On November 13, 1996, 35-year-old Carrie Loraine Bowles was found murdered in her residence within the Old Mill Trace subdivision off Keenes Mill Road in Cottondale, Alabama. A family member discovered her body; she had been fatally shot. It remains unclear whether she was acquainted with her assailant.
