On April 25, 2007, 32-year-old Calvin Square Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot in the chest following an altercation with another male in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 2000 block of Avenue J in the Tuxedo community of Ensley. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect surrendered to police at the scene but was not charged.
