On July 3, 2008, 33-year-old Derrick Pelt was found fatally shot on the 1100 block of 2nd Street West in Birmingham, Alabama. His death was one of 88 homicides reported in Birmingham that year, contributing to a homicide rate of 38.5 per 100,000 residents.
Despite investigations, no suspects have been identified in connection with Pelt's murder, and the case remains unsolved. The Birmingham Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in solving this case.
