In the early morning hours of January 8, 2009, a dispute over a car repossession in Birmingham, Alabama, turned deadly, claiming the life of 28-year-old Jason Lee McLendon. A male resident of Pinson, McLendon worked in the repossession industry, a profession fraught with potential conflict. On this particular morning, at approximately 2:00 a.m., McLendon and a colleague were in the 1900 block of 20th Street North attempting to repossess a Cadillac sedan.
