Twenty-year-old Harold Brown, a male, was at the corner of 54th Street and Park Avenue Southwest with three other individuals on July 27, 2009. They were in the process of trying to jump-start a 1985 Buick Regal.
The vehicle belonged to Brandon Mason, who discovered the group with his car. After the initial discovery, Mason left the scene, only to return armed. An altercation ensued, and Mason opened fire. The gunfire resulted in the death of Harold Brown and left another person injured.
Following the incident, law enforcement investigated the shooting. Brandon Mason was subsequently identified as the individual responsible for the fatal shooting. He was arrested and faced a charge of capital murder in connection with the death of Harold Brown. The case was one of 72 homicides that occurred in Birmingham in 2009.
