On August 10, 2011, 27-year-old Michael Jermaine Mount of Opp, Alabama, was fatally shot. After sustaining gunshot wounds to his arm and chest, Mount drove to the Super C Convenience store on U.S. Highway 331, where he sought assistance. Responding officers found him lying on the floor; he was transported to Mizell Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation led to the arrest of two individuals: 19-year-old Carlton Hunter Brooks of Kinston and 21-year-old Marquez
