In the late summer of 2011, a violent encounter in Opp, Alabama, claimed the life of 27-year-old Michael Jermaine Mount, a Black male. On the evening of August 10th, Mount sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and chest. Despite his injuries, he managed to drive himself to a Super C convenience store on U.S. Highway 331 in search of help. When law enforcement arrived, they found him lying on the floor of the establishment.
