Death by Force

On January 29, 2013, in Midland City, Alabama, 66-year-old Charles Albert "Chuck" Poland Jr., a dedicated school bus driver, was fatally shot while protecting the children on his bus. As Poland was transporting students home, a man identified as Jimmy Lee Dykes boarded the bus and demanded two children between the ages of six and eight. Poland refused to comply, positioning himself to block Dykes' access to the children. In response, Dykes shot Poland multiple times, resulting in his death.
