On the night of May 17, 2014, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Birmingham Police officers responded to a report of a person lying in the street on the 1200 block of Lawson Road, located north of the airport. Upon arrival, they discovered 41-year-old James Farentino Madden, a resident of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Madden was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:25 p.m.
