In the summer of 2014, a promising life was tragically cut short in Mobile, Alabama. On the evening of Sunday, June 15th, police were called to the 1300 block of Olive Court following reports of a shooting. There, they discovered 29-year-old Anthony McCune, a male, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the quick response of Mobile Fire-Rescue, McCune was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death, which occurred on Father's Day, left his family, including his mother, daughter, and three brothers, to grapple with a sudden and devastating loss.
The investigation into McCune's death moved swiftly. By the following evening, on Monday, June 16, 2014, authorities had a suspect in custody. Twenty-year-old Darrin Williams was apprehended at approximately 6:05 p.m. and brought in for questioning. Following an interview with investigators, Williams was formally charged with murder and transported to the Mobile County Metro Jail. The prompt arrest brought a swift, if incomplete, sense of closure to a community shaken by the violence. The investigation was to continue even after the arrest.
