A rising star in the world of professional bull riding, 27-year-old Demetrius Omar Lateef Allen, known to fans as 'Ouncie Mitchell,' was fatally shot on September 12, 2022. The male victim was in Salt Lake City, Utah, to compete in the Utah State Fair and was staying with an acquaintance, Lashawn Bagley.
The night of the shooting, Allen and Bagley had attended the fair where Allen competed. Afterward, they went to a bar where an argument reportedly took place.
Later that evening, Allen went to Bagley's apartment to retrieve his belongings. It was during this time that Bagley allegedly shot Allen.
Following the incident, Bagley herself contacted 911. During the call, the operator heard noises, and Bagley reportedly stated she was shooting and had run out of bullets. When police arrived at the scene, Allen was found with at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Lashawn Bagley, 22 years old at the time, was taken into custody by the Salt Lake City Police Department. She was initially released pending further investigation, during which time she traveled to Houston, Texas. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for her arrest, and she was later apprehended in Houston. Bagley has been charged with murder and nine counts of discharge of a firearm.
